Gambia: One Love Music and Arts Festival in Aid of Kandaria Dispensary Slated

Raw Entertainment in collaboration with Yard 1 and The Gambia Promotions (GMB Promotions) an event organizer, proudly present One Love Music and Arts Festival, an international fund raising event meant to support Kandaria Dispensary in Kenya Kisumu region.

The event slated for August 28th and 29th 2015 in the city of Cabanas in Nairobi, Kenya is expected to be one of the biggest reggae festivals as it will host some of the finest reggae dancehall stars in the persons of Jamaica’s reggae sensation-Turbulence, Gambia’s finest reggae artist-Dr Olugander and Don Rawzi, a Kenyan based in the United States.

The idea behind the festival according to organisers, is to give back to the community in their quest to stage similar festival in The Gambia in the near future.

In an in interview with What’s On, Christopher Mendy aka Christ Black, founder of Gambia Promotions, who is also promoting the festival in this part of Africa, informed that the event is going to be one of its kind.

According to him, they are currently done with some arrangements, which include the band that will be backing the performing artistes, further expressing optimism that the event will be a successful one.

Christ Black, who left the country for Kenya on Monday, further informed that upon arrival in the country he will be doing some promotions of the event.

“Upon arrival in Kenya I will conduct both TV and radio interviews in better promoting the event. I think this is another move in the right direction in promoting the country at the international front. As you already know GMB Promotions means Gambia Promotions and anything they made mention of it, it is the country’s image people will see”.

He went on to thank the CEO of Raw Entertainment for the trust and confident she has for GMB Promotions and Gambians at large. “Also I want to implore on youths to be steadfast and committed in promoting the country’s entertainment industry forward.”

Rebbecah Atriew Waore, chief executive officer (CEO) of Raw Entertainment, on the line from her based in Jamaica, informed What’s On, that the idea behind the festival is to support people in the Kandaria region, who are mainly farmers.

With regards to their current preparations in built up to the event, the Raw Entertainment CEO affirmed that they are more than ready as all the arrangements in making the event one of its kind are on course.

“This is going to be the first of its kind in Kenya and we want to stage similar event in The Gambia in our move to make One Love Music and Arts Festival bigger and better.”
