[EMAIL] The Publisher, Kaati and her longtime friend Wanda Whitaker had been producing festival programs for events and came up with an idea to publish one program for all the festivals they were involved with in California. They took that idea one step further developing the program to be used as a a vehicle to sell tickets and get the information out to fans before the events, and that gave birth to The Reggae Festival Guide magazine in 1995. Kaati and Wanda had to do some fast talking selling advertising in a publication that didn't exist except in their minds for the first issue! The first Guide was 12 pages long and only included California festivals. In 1996, The Reggae Festival Guide expanded to 40 pages and included festivals in some of the western states. In 1997, the Guide was up to 60 pages with more festivals than ever. Then in 1998, east coast promoters wanted to be in it and the Guide increased to 72 pages, and circulated 75,000 copies so there were enough to go around. Now celebrating their 14th issue in 2008, the Guide is approximately 120 pages long, and 100,000 copies are circulated in U.S. and Canada and available through mail overseas. After 14 years, Reggae Festival Guide has become the primary reference source for fans, as well as the reggae industry worldwide. Thanks to all our advertisers who helped us get to where we are today, and thanks to our readers who buy tickets to the festivals and enable us to keep forwarding the reggae vibe.
