Baja Roots Festival – October 13-15 in Rosarito, Baja, California Features Live Music, Surfing, Celebrity Chefs, Yoga and More is Fundraiser for Local Orphanages
Baja Roots Festival is a weekend-long fundraiser. It features live reggae bands, surfing, yoga, and fine dining. Baja Angels of the Sea is the beneficiary. This is a non-profit organization building sustainable projects at local orphanages. This first-annual will be held at the famous Las Rocas Resort, Rosarito, Baja California on October 13-15, 2023. It is an all-ages event.
Entertainment
Guests will be entertained with reggae music from Eek-A-Mouse, Big Mountain, and Tomorrows Bad Seeds. Also on the bill are Somos Uno, and LawGiver the Kingson. Plus La Ganjah Revoluzion, Rebel Shakedown, Divina Jasso, Nativo, Sabrina Soul, Indica Roots, Zara Gilbertt, Top Shelf and Yax Balam will also be performing. Spinning DJs include MrKees, and Bille Knight. The MCs for the evening are Ras Mike, Alfredo Haro, and John E Rockers. Live art, created on-stage and influenced by the musical performances, will be auctioned for the cause in between acts.
Big Mountain’s lead singer and Baja Roots co-founder, Joaquin “Quino” McWhinney, states: “I’ve lived in Baja California for almost 12 years and have always dreamed of having a world music festival that brought bands from both sides of the border together.
Last year I began working with the Baja Angels of the Sea. We planned a benefit event for the orphanage that they work with. My friend, Bruno Barbieri, the director of Baja Angels, proposed earlier this year that we try to put a real music festival together. As fate would have it, we put the right team together and all of a sudden the festival was born.“
The Resort
The famous Las Rocas Resort is just 45 minutes from San Diego. Las Rocas Hotel features a breathtaking, oceanfront setting, and all rooms and suites are ocean view.
