The H.I.M 50th Visit Commemoration Committee is pleased to announce that the HIM 50th Visit Anniversary Essay Competition is now open!
The competition targets youths ages 11 – 25 to research and produce an essay or a creative/artistic piece on the visit of His Imperial Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie I to the Caribbean Region in April 1966. The competition is divided into the following four (4) age categories and open to youths locally and internationally inspired to make contribution.
Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 essays in each age category and will include:
- Recognition at the Founder’s Day Celebration at Haile Selassie Secondary High School
- A chance to meet Haile Selassie’s grandson Prince Ermias Sahle-Selassie
- Most outstanding entries will be published (Publication to be decided)
- Trophy, Cash Bursary; Book Certificates/Book basket; Sponsorship of booklist/book wish-list
