Dancehall trendsetter Ishawna has walked away with two coveted awards in the 2016 staging of the Youth View Awards held last Saturday night at the National Indoor Sports Centre.

The Downsound records signed act was nominated in four categories; Fashion Icon – Female, Favorite Local Female Artist, Young Hot & Hype Female and Favorite Musical Collaboration for the single ‘Answer Me’ featuring Masicka. Ishawna walked away with the awards for Fashion Icon and Young Hot and Hype Female.

The Dancehall fashionista has turned heads consistently with her style over the years and has been the topic of consistent conversations for her bold and unique style choices.

“My style is eclectic.  I work with mood and vibes that I’m feeling, that tells me what I’m rocking today. I do things my way regardless of what others think. I’m not afraid to take risks with my fashion or my music” Ishawna explained

The risks ultimately paid off as her fans voted her the Fashion Icon Female and Young Hot and Hype Female for 2015.

Dressed in a regal black jeweled piece at the actual ceremony on Saturday, Ishawna turned heads on the red carpet with the semi transparent piece. She was however quite surprised by her win.

“I was a little startled. I didn’t expect to win. But it does feel good. I’d like to say thanks to my fans for their support I really couldn’t have done it without them. I just want to celebrate this win with my fans.” Ishawna added

Ishawna will be capitalizing on the title ‘Young Hot and Hype’ with her musical releases this year as well. The artiste will be dropping additional hot tracks like the recently released ‘Social Media Hot’ single that is doing quite well since its release over a week ago.

The artiste is also expected to take some fashion icon style to her performance at the BritJam Festival on March 11 in Montego Bay, before heading out for her European Tour in May.
