Tarrus Riley, Dean Fraser and the Blak Soil Band, also Long Beach Dub Allstars and Landon will perform at the UC Theatre Taube Family Music Hall in Berkeley, CA on Friday, February 7 for an all-ages reggae extravaganza. Doors open at 8 p.m. and the music starts at 9 p.m.
Tarrus Riley is among the leading ambassadors of modern-day Reggae music. His commanding vocals, intuitive lyrics and vibrant personality create a formidable artist with authentic credentials in Reggae music. (his father is the legendary Jimmy Riley. Riley’s rising catalogue has been described as ‘healing’ music and has brought adoration and acclaim from leading music luminaries from across the globe.
Dean Fraser is a Jamaican saxophonist par excellence who has contributed to hundreds of reggae recordings since the mid-1970s. He was awarded the Musgrave Medal by the Jamaican government in 1993 in recognition of his services to music. He, with the Blak Soil Band will do their own performance as well as back Tarrus Riley.
The members of Long Beach Dub Allstars are a dub/ska/rock band formed by childhood friends. Eric Wilson and Bud Gaugh met in 1979 and later started their first garage punk band, consisting of drums, bass and vocals. They later formed internationally acclaimed Sublime with Bradley Nowell. The Long Beach Dub Allstars were founded after Nowell died in 1996 of a heroin overdose.
Landon Mc Namara brings the relaxed, joyful feel of his home in the Hawaiian Islands and expresses it through his music. This 20-year-old musician/Ford model/pro big wave surfer, is currently on tour in support of his new album: Kickin’ It.” Landon blends his own brand of reggae, rock n’ roll (while growing up he was influenced listening to Jimi Hendrix and Bob Marley), and blues to create a musical combo platter of positive and relatable music.
