2017 WILL BE THE 25TH EDITION OF REGGAE SUMFEST

Kingston, Jamaica: Reggae Sumfest has a New Level Unlocked, with the confirmation of dancehall star Alkaline for Friday July 22, Dancehall Night at the 25th staging of the Greatest Reggae Show on Earth. This reaffirms the organiser’s commitment to showcasing the best of Jamaican music as the event moves to a weeklong Festival. Reggae Sumfest 2017 kicks off on Sunday July 16 and culminates at Catherine Hall with a two day concert on July 22 and 23.

Josef Bogdanovich, Chairman of Downsound Entertainment, organisers of the Festival assures fans that the line-up of events and musicians scheduled for the new week of activities is exciting and explosive. “Reggae Sumfest has a tradition of a powerful display of music and craftsmanship on a stage of first world standard production and the team has worked diligently to ensure this year’s event is an experience of the best about Jamaican music,” he explained.

Alkaline, whose given name is Earlan Bartley, has had a fast ascension in the dancehall sphere, with creative and skilful lyrics over some of the most enjoyable rhythms in dancehall. Hits such as Spoil You and Ride on Me, are loved by the women in dancehall while the deejay keeps the hardcore audiences bouncing with mega hits such as Badness It Name and Extra Lesson..

Last year, with his New Level Unlocked album, Alkaline became the first Dancehall artiste since 2011 to top the Billboard Reggae Album Chart. Since then, the Champion Boy has reaped musical successes and has expanded his entrepreneurial skills with the Vendetta clothing line.

Alkaline has received 10 nominations for this year’s Youth View Awards and has no signs of slowing down having released his new single Son of a Queen with chart topping potential.

Reggae Sumfest 2017 kicks off on Sunday, July 16 with a Beach Party and moves into the Sumfest Sunset Yacht Party on Monday, July 17. The staple All-White Party at Pier One happens on Tuesday, July 18 followed by Sumfest Blitz on Wednesday, July 19. On Thursday, July 20 Pier-One will play host to the exciting Sumfest Heavy Weight Clash, then culminates at Catherine Hall on Friday, July 22 and Saturday, July 23 with the pulsating rhythms of music and Jamaican culture.

Early bird tickets and travel packages go on sale exclusively on the official www.reggaesumfest.com  website in February and patrons can look forward to more updates on the line-up and events for Reggae Sumfest 2017.
