September 21st will see the release of the much anticipated 9th studio album from GROUNDATION entitled “The Next Generation”. The group has been relaunched and now features new musicians brought together by founder Harrison Stafford keeping to the principles that made the sound exceptional that unique Jazz Reggae polyrhythmic style. Carrying on from the great musicians that have gone before the time has come for them to share what they’ve created as a group in the studio.
On September 14th Groundation revealed the album’s third music video “One But Ten” giving a sense of the group’s camaraderie and how they worked together to record the album. The video was shot at Prairie Sun Studios in Cotati, California where we see the individual members with their instruments as they record the music like back in the 1970s onto 2” analog tape! Musically “One But Ten” is an uptempo powerhouse with a serious message and heavy groove.
Collectively the music of “The Next Generation” is deeply rich and diverse, and we get a sample of this from these first three singles; “Fossil Fuels” a steady rockin’ one-drop riddim, “My Shield” a polyrhythmic 6/4 African style song, and “One But Ten” a funky disco track featuring both organ and drum solos…what’s next? We will all discover on September 21.
