The former lead singer of Black Uhuru, with the chart topping hits “One Blood”, “It’s Okay” and “This is Why I’m Hot”, Junior “One Blood” Reid is a worldwide Reggae/Dancehall Legend, universally loved and respected by fellow artists and fans. Junior has done many major US tours with Kings Music International for over 15 years and has played many major festivals worldwide. He recently performed on the Master of Ceremonies at the Barkley Stadium in Brooklyn, NY and he also headlined the VP 40th anniversary in Central Park, NY. In London he performed on Salute the Legend.. He currently has singles out called “Vaccination”, “Jet Tek Off” (with Kimio Reid), “House Party” (with Yung JR & Breeze), “It’s about to Go Down” (with Bust a Rhymes and Ghost Face Killer), “Bad Man” (with Dave East) and “Bag Alert” (with Chedda Boss & Scralla). Junior has an album called Collab Alert Part 1 soon to be released that includes the singles from the many music videos and collaborations he has been doing. He has recently been working with many international artists such as Ghost Face Killer, Bust a Rhymes and Wutan Clan. He has also worked with Poor Righteous Teachers, Guru’s Jazzmataz, Alicia Keys, Lil Wayne, Cool and Dre, Cold Cut, Soup Dragon, Snoop Dogg, Game, Fabulous, GRW, DMX, Rick Ross and many more. He recently promoted a show in Jamaica called Selassie I Earthday, Big Moah Birthday on July 23 at the Junior Reid Entertainment Center in Kingston.

At the age of 18, Junior was asked to be the lead singer of Black Uhuru. While he was singing with Black Uhuru , the group released three albums – Brutal, Positive and Black Uhuru Live in New York. Brutal and Positive were nominated twice for a Grammy Award in the Reggae category. In 1989 Black Uhuru split up and Junior went solo with the release of his One Blood album and he also launched his own JR Record Label. The title track One Blood was an instant hit which has now became a worldwide anthem. This song’s universal message is similar that of Bob Marley’s One Love. The Game album with the One Blood remix crossed over to hip-hop and urban audiences reaching number one on the Billboard charts and This is Why I’m Hot also reached number one on the billboard charts. These songs were major commercial hits. November 2007, Junior was featured on the American Music Awards with Alicia Keys on prime time television. This led to a string of hip-hop/ reggae collaborations with the likes of Poor Righteous Teachers, Busta Rhymes, Casidy, Wu-Tang Clan, Guru’s Jazzmataz, Lil Wayne, Cool and Dre, Rick Ross, Cold Cut, Soup Dragon, Snoop Dogg and many more.

Junior Reid has also collaborated with many reggae artists such as Dennis Brown, Gregory Isaacs, Big Youth, Bounty Killer, Ninja Man, Baby Wayne and Vibes Kartel. He was also featured on a Junior Gong’s track called Ancient People with Naz. Other of his successful singles include State of Emergency, Love Your Brother, These Streets Belongs to Me and I Just Love Jamaican Chocolate to mention a few. Junior’s video release, The Real O.G. received over eight million views in the first week. One Blood was sampled by The Game for It’s Okay, and features Junior on the #1 hit off of The Game’s album. Junior is also featured on the Mims remix to the chart topping single This is Why I’m Hot. This single was a number one song on the Billboard Charts, the radio and in the clubs, and the video was on heavy rotation on BET. He also featured on a Fabulous track with his song Real Gangster Don’t Play.
