Dre Z Melodi & Sgt. Remo Release Collaboration Album

No Comments Latest Reggae News Music

New Mexico based Dre Z Melodi teams up with Texas’ Sgt. Remo to deliver a work of art on this collaboration album. The two artists have worked on various singles and productions during the past few years. This ongoing cooperation sparked the idea of putting together a full album. The two artists met in Albuquerque, NM around 2005 when Sgt. Remo lived in NM. Dre Z was a member of the influential New Mexico band Mystic Vision. Sgt. Remo was a newcomer to NM and performed as a solo artist and was a frequent guest vocalist with the renowned Brotherhood Sound System. Dre Z is a true singer reminiscent of the greats such as Dennis Brown and Jah Cure. Sgt. Remo is a coarse-voiced DJ with a limitless lyrical ability. His style comes after the greats such as Supercat, Buju, and Terror Fabulous.

When the two artist come together their differing styles fit together effortlessly to create an acoustic sculpture in every song. Dre Z Melodi’s harmonies and vocals compliment the rough and rugged delivery by Sgt. Remo. If you must compare their songs to previous works by other reggae artists, they are reminiscent of the Beres Hammond and Buju Banton string of hits although the song topics differ. Production of the album is courtesy of Monsoon Kiva Productions out of New Mexico with the exception of the song Truths Haffi Set Them Free which was produced by Chicago’s D.O.V.E. Musik. The album consists of seven tracks covering the full spectrum of reggae. From heavy roots to dancehall, dubby songs to radio friendly bangers, these seven tracks give you a full reggae experience.

Their first single and official video, 10,000 Saints, was released on Aug. 31, 2018 on Dre Z Melodi’s YouTube Channel. This powerful single depicts the story of the Book of Enoch. It is a true Rastafari anthem which made a thrilling preview to this album. The album drops on January 11, 2019. The official video for the title track Here We Come Again featuring roots dancehall artist Soulfiya was just released on Sgt. Remo’s YouTube Channel. The album features reggae dancehall legend General Smiley on the song Dark from Light which will be the next official video release. The only other feature includes New Mexico artist Mister Kali on Gives & Takers.
