| Koffee First Act Confirmed For Global Reggae Night |
 Grammy Award-winning reggae singer, Koffee, is the first artiste confirmed for Global Reggae Night, a new concept designed for this year’s virtual Reggae Month celebrations.“Every Saturday night in February, Reggae Month will come alive with fantastic performances from our internationally acclaimed artistes,” Jacqueline Knight-Campbell, marketing, public relations and business development consultant. “The first Saturday night, February 6, is the birthday of reggae icon and legend, Bob Marley, so that will be a tribute to him. Koffee will close off the series on February 27,” she elaborated. Koffee, the youngest person and only woman to be awarded in the Best Reggae Album category, released her debut single, Burning, in 2017, and in 2019 signed with Columbia Records. Her 2019 EP, Rapture, was awarded Best Reggae Album at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards. Reggae Month celebrates its 14th staging in 2021 with a full slate of virtual events. Activities will be showcased on several platforms with a high level of entertainment productions, packaged to highlight the strength and importance of the cultural and creative industries. The month will kick off awareness with the official church service at Fellowship Tabernacle, followed by reggae exhibitions, the World Reggae Films and documentaries shown online, reggae symposiums and panel discussions under the brand Reggae University to include panelists both in Jamaica and across the world. GLOBAL CELEBRATIONSThe celebrations are expected to reach across Jamaican diaspora communities and engage with several other initiatives staged by other individuals and entities across the world. The City of Miramar in Florida will culminate its celebration with its Iconic Reggae Award where Black History meets Reggae for the second consecutive year. In its inaugural year, Olivia ‘Babsy’ Grange received the City of Miramar’s Proclamation award and the Keys to Broward County, while singer Freddie McGregor received the Iconic Award. This year, a male and female reggae icon from Jamaica will be awarded. Brand Reggae achieved its inscription as Jamaica’s intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO in 2018 and will see several overseas-based visitors to Jamaica at the invitation of the Government. The Mayor of City Kingston has endorsed the partnerships which have been an important part of Kingston as a UNESCO Creative City, designated in December 2015.
